Join us for an exciting, fun and family-friendly reindeer sledding adventure just as the Sámi people have done for hundreds of years! This cultural adventure includes 30-minutes of reindeer sledding, before you can try lasso-throwing and listen to stories about the Sami culture and history. Daytime trips offer you an amazing view of the famous mountains of Kvaløya, and evening trips in the period of November – March are an excellent opportunity to experience the magical Northern Lights.

SamiCamp is located approximately 20-minute drive from Tromsø city centre where the reindeer and sleds are waiting. We then offer an introduction to reindeer sledding, before you join our Sami guides for an unforgettable experience of reindeer sledding (approx. 30 minutes).
Back at the camp you can learn more about the reindeer and even feed the herd of reindeer. If you are lucky they will feed from your hands! You will also have to opportunity to try lasso-throwing and see if you can catch the reindeer just as the herders do. Inside the lavvu (a traditional Sami tent) warm drinks and a traditional Sami meal will be cooked over the fire and then served. After the meal you are invited to gather around the fire and listen to stories about Sami culture, life as a reindeer herder and even listen to the traditional Sami song called ‘joik’.
* If conditions change, we reserve the right to amend the duration of the reindeer sledding.
